It just crushes me… this past weekend a family friend of ours lost their son in a tragic unexpected accident.
My parents have been friends with his parents for …pretty much ever. A really long time… I didn’t know him that well, just knew of him and knew the sweet girl he was dating. I knew his sister as we used to work together and still work at the same company… we email and chat occasionally… and my heart just breaks for them.
He and his girlfriend who graduated a year after me were so in love, so happy together… they were just getting ready to move in together.
He lost his life on Friday afternoon shortly after 4pm. He was under a trailer house as it was getting ready to be moved and blocks gave out and the trailer came down crushing him.
The wake is tonight, funeral tomorrow… and I am dreading it more than anything.
He was only 29. Almost 30… and so much life ahead of him.
You never know when it’s your time to go… tell the ones you love how much they mean to you, and cherish every day as if it’s your last.
Hugs to you all, especially you Tara if you’re reading this. My heart just hurts for you… so bad. I wish I could take all the pain away.
Although I haven’t been following Heather’s blog until just recently, I couldn’t give up the opportunity to be like all of the others out there supporting her.
Heather and Michael lost their beautiful baby girl, Madeline Alice unexpectidly yesterday April 7th, 2009. Maddie was 17 months old.
Madeline was born 11 weeks premature, you can read more of her story here and the rest of the story on Heather’s blog. This past weekend brought a horrible thing – Madeline was sick enough to be transported to the hospital via Ambulance with the lights and sirens blazing.
Unfortunately Heather’s blog has been suspended as of earlier this AM due to overwhelming traffic and I believe someone has been in the process of getting her site transferred over to a new host. Bluehost has not been a great company to deal with throughout this ordeal, however thanks to several big hearts, everyone will be able to leave their thoughts and prayers over at Heather’s site soon… you can stay posted on that by checking out the #maddie hashtag on Twitter.
Although I didn’t know of you Maddie until recently, rest in peace sweet baby.

*Update: 4/9/09*
Heather’s site has been changed to a new server and redirected to www.remembermaddie.com thanks to @temptingmama and @princessjenn! The online community is not just bloggers and tweeters and “people surfing the net” – it’s truely an online FAMILY, even IF we have never met in person before. It is simply amazing.
As always, if you have any free change, ANY amount counts – please consider donating in honor of Maddie Moo to the March of Dimes. Also, please consider walking in memory of her. You can find a list of MoD walks near you here by just typing in your zipcode – I did, and I found several going on in the end of April, early May – I will be signing up for one, and you can also purchase T-shirts in memory of her here to wear when you walk, or the day of her services – if you do not purchase a T-Shirt, please wear purple on those days. The proceeds from the T-Shirt’s will go directly to The Spohr’s. Also, you can find details about the services on Heather’s blog or at A Mom Two Boys.
A mailbox has been set up for Heather and Mike, so if you would like to send them anything, you can send it to:
Mike & Heather Spohr

It is at a UPS Store, so they can accept packages as well.
If you would like to see a link of other bloggers who have written a post dedicated to sweet Maddie, A Mom Two Boys as a Mr. Linky set up. There are well over 200! If you haven’t added your name yet and have posted a tribute, be sure to do so!
“It is not easy to live life some times and face the world with a smile when you are crying inside. It takes a lot of courage to reach down inside yourself, hold on to that strength that’s still there and know that tomorrow is a new day with new possibilities. But if you can just hold on long enough to see this through, you’ll come out a new person-stronger, with more understanding and with a new pride in yourself knowing you made it.” — Unknown
