I’m so clever with a title, ha! Really though, it is just a simple weekend post.
Chris finally came home this weekend and we have spent the weekend together, just the two of us plus Duke. It has been quite nice and it makes me realize how much I miss him during the week.
Last night I am thanking my lucky stars that he was here with me. You may have read my tweets last night, so if so I apologize in advance. Anyways it was abot 12:30/1:00am and it was storming… We were still up watching TV, relaxing when we decided sincethe weather was getting worse we should probably try to find a flash light incase the power goes out. The windows were open, so Chris got up to go shut them and I unplugged our laptops from the wall just incase… We didn’t need those fried if the weather got worse… So I quickly unplugged them, started walking towards the stairwell as Chris was walking towards the windows to shut them and ….*CRACKBOOMBOOMCRACKZzzzzzZZZCRACK* and the house shook. I of course the second the lightning struck did the holyshitwhatwasthatohmygodwhatishappeningterrifyingneedtogocleanoutmydrawersafterthis scream while Chris yelled “Holy Fuck!!!!!!” and we both looked at each other, terror in our eyes. One of the big trees in our front yard that was literally about 5 feet from the windows Chris was going to close got struck. Chris saw the lightning bolt come down the tree, spread out on the ground and then disappear.
After we realized what tree it was and realized what kind of chickens we are, we got nervous. I had just finished baking a sheet of cookies (the ones that are premade frozen cookie dough, haha) so the house had that oven hot smell… Well, Chris started getting panicky and smelling that hot smell… And he got all worried that the house was on fire or tree or something. So we both headed upstairs, stairwell light didn’t work.. Didn’t think much of it… Upstairs was fine, we were safe, no fire and so we went to bed. Got up this morning and our bathroom light didn’t work… Hmmm. Then we tried turning on our TV/satellite …tv turned on but the dish wouldn’t. Hmmm. The tv, dish, xbox, DVD player and playstation are all plugged into the same surge protector … So if it was going to ge one of them, it’d get them all, right? Well after spending oodles of hours trying to reset, restart, reprogram the remote, etc ..I called DirecTv and someone is coming out on Monday to see if they can figure it out. Our dish works in our bedroom so I can still watch the weather and such in there… But still, if the lightning did get the receiver, I’m damn surprised it didn’t get the other stuff in the surge protector. I think I would have died a little bit inside if the lightning would have zapped our Sony big fat flat screen. Remind me, must send in our rental insurance papers on Monday. Oops.
As far as the bathroom, Chris had to flip a couple breakers since they tripped last night with the strike and everything has been fine since. Damn storms.
Other than that, our weekend has been pretty uneventful! I spent far too much money at eyeslipsface.com – otherwise known as Elf Cosmetics, and I’m pretty sure I will be set for makeup for the next 30 years. Not kidding. I even went back three times, THREE to get more stuff I wanted.
All I can say is thank you baby Jesus that Chris isn’t one during the week or he might not be thrilled with he delivery …pfffft, not like he would ever understand how crazy a girl goes over make up stuff that is almost always $1 only. Srsly.
Then tonight I started mowing lawn between the two storms today…. I shouldn’t have started since the lawn was still kind of wet, but I got about 1/4 way done and all of a sudden I didn’t feel the tightness or friction onlf the mower deck running… and sure enough, the deck belt blew. So I best be going to buy one of them tomorrow or Monday because uhh, I waited far too long to mow this time. Oops. I blame the rain.
Well kids, that’s about it…. My pillow is calling my name. Goodnight! Xoxo
